Olivia began playing golf at the age of 13 during a spring break week at The First Tee of Greater Austin and never looked back. She fell in love with the game of golf and accepted its many trying challenges and embraces it daily in practice and play. Her initial and most important instructor has been her Dad, Johnny, they built her swing together during her first year of instruction and he taught her how to play by the rules of integrity and has continued to instruct and guide her as she continues to play. She attended The First Tee during summer and school breaks and soon became a volunteer and still volunteers and participates in their programs. She has been selected every year to be Standard Bearer at Dell Match Play since it came to Austin in 2016 and has been inside the ropes and carried for lots of Golf Greats like Sergio Garcia, Billy Horschel, Jim Furyk, Kyle Stanley, Marc Leishman, Ryan Moore and most recently Lucas Bjerregaard and Tiger Woods.
Golf influencer’s besides her dad Johnny, Coach Jim Hopkins at Harvey Penick Academy who also introduced her to Harvey Penick’s son, Tinsley, Coach Brad Hulse, her freshman Varsity coach and Coach Mark Klement, who is now with The First Tee and her Swing coach for the last 3 years, have all played a significant role in Olivia’s golf and personal life, she’s had quite a few home courses over the years, but most recently has made Live Oak her home course while at Lake Travis and has played over the years in the US Kids, STPGA, TJGT programs and has enjoyed playing with each tour and meeting all the golfers she has played with.
Olivia came to Lake Travis in her sophomore year and has played on Varsity and is a great advocate of team comradery doing all she can to support her team mates and has a great work ethic and her fun-loving attitude keeps the girls on the team laughing and motivated. She’s strong, energetic and self-motivated and determined to get better and keep dropping her scores and earlier this year in March at a school tournament at Delaware Springs, Olivia got her first Hole in One on hole 16, Great accomplishment!
In pursuing her love for animals, she has decided on a career in Animal Science/Pre-Vet medicine, she has chosen to attend Texas A&M University in Kingsville, Texas which has a wonderful Animal Science program and offers great hands on learning experiences through their University Farm. She has shadowed several times for a few veterinarians and has watched Dr. Don Hulse while he performed surgeries, her great love of dogs has led her down this path.
Olivia will be playing golf for Coach Stefanie Gray, head coach of the TAMUK Javelina Hogs, which participate in the LSC, Lone Star Conference, Division ll. Olivia loves the campus, her future teammates and coach and loves the fact that she will be playing in the southern heat. She has many supportive loving family & friends around her which have guided and will continue to support her future as an Aggie Javelina Hog.
Olivia is and will be forever grateful to her parents and all that have encouraged and helped to follow her dreams.
